Over the Rainbow!

I just loved the gorgeous mix of vibrant shades that Claire and Matt chose for their wedding flowers – such fun to work with colours like these! The wedding took place in the country setting of St Andrew’s Church in West Deeping – it was a bit touch and go as far as the weather was concerned with the rain pouring down as we were setting up in the morning, but then the clouds cleared and the sun shone down as this lovely couple celebrated their special day with friends and family.

My thanks to Claire and Matt for allowing me to share some of their fabulous photos by Emmie Scott (see more of Emmie's amazing work at www.emmiesweddingphotography.com). Here are a few of the flower designs I created for the wedding and you can currently see more on my featured wedding gallery. I hope they might inspire you to be adventurous with your colour choices too!

Bride and bridesmaids with brightly coloured posies

The flowers were used to bring in plenty of bright colour, including peach, coral, blue and cerise pink, but with touches of paler powder blue and silvery-grey foliage to tone with the bridesmaids' dresses. Creamy Vendela roses with a hint of blush were included through the designs as they were a perfect match for the colour of Claire's beautiful dress and helped to hold the scheme together.

Brightly coloured bride's bouquet

Flowers in Claire’s vibrant hand tied bouquet included Vendela and Miss Piggy roses, hydrangeas, dahlias, carnations, veronica, freesias, echeverias and Gloriosa lilies. A perfect mix to suit Claire's bubbly personality – fabulous!

Bride and groom raise a toast to each other

Matt wore a Vendela rose and eryngium buttonhole to contrast with his blue suit and to complement Claire’s blush wedding dress – such a happy couple!

Jars of bright flowers in St Andrews Church

Jars filled with bright flowers were used to bring colour into the church and were later moved to the marquee for the wedding breakfast.

Marquee with hanging floral decorations

The lovely relaxed day continued with drinks in the garden of Claire’s parents, followed by a marquee reception – luckily the sun continued to shine! Jars of bright flowers were used to decorate the long dining tables, with hanging designs overhead to create impact.

Hanging bicycle wheels decorated with flowers and ribbons

It was such fun working in extra elements, such as bicycle wheels and brightly coloured trailing ribbons, to help create the couples 'posh summer fete' feel - a truly individual occasion!

Bright flower display on the top of a barrel

Floral designs from the church were re-used where possible to add plenty of colour to the marquee.

Many congratulations to you both and I was delighted to be a part of your very special day x
