White Wedding!

When Danielle first came to chat with me about the ideas for her Stamford wedding I was thrilled with the idea of working with her, as the wedding was definitely going to be a stylish and beautiful one! Danielle was due to marry Ben at the chapel of his old school – Stamford Boys School – followed by a true country garden reception in the grounds of his parents’ home in Stamford. As Ben is a designer and founder of the Old English Company I knew that this couple’s ideas for their wedding would be very stylish and that it would be important to get the look of their flowers just right.

Danielle and Ben chose a white wedding, with lots of greenery, foliage and white flowers everywhere! Although a traditional wedding colour scheme, the couple added their own modern twist by incorporating silvery-grey foliage, such as eucalyptus and stachys, into the scheme to match the grey and white stationery and the silver-grey of the bridesmaids’ dresses. The results were fabulous!

You can see some of the flower designs from this beautiful wedding in my Wedding Gallery, as well as some of the brilliant professional images taken by James Corbett (thanks so much for allowing me to use these).

The smiles say it all as Ben and Danielle leave the chapel! Just love Danielle’s gorgeous wedding gown and her bouquet of white flowers with trailing foliage works beautifully with it.

White hand tied bridal bouquet with trailing foliageDanielle had very clear ideas on how she wanted her wedding flowers to look. Her gorgeous hand tied bouquet was filled with scented white and ivory flowers, such as peonies, roses, phlox, lisianthus, freesias and delicate Lily-of-the-valley, offset by trailing foliage in green and silvery grey.

The colours chosen for the flowers and foliage really complemented the men’s’ charcoal suits and the bridesmaids’ silver-grey dresses. The same mix of flowers as used in Danielle’s bouquet was used for the bridesmaids’ poises, and the men wore buttonholes of ivory Akito roses with sprigs of eucalyptus.

Top table garland of foliage and white flowers

This was the first time I have ever worked in a marquee with real trees growing inside it! The couple’s choice of white flowers with plenty of trailing foliage was prefect to complete the natural country garden theme, with twinkling fairy lights and silver votives helping to create a magical feel.

The fabulous top table garland ran the full length of the 8m long table and was designed for maximum impact. As well as trailing green and grey foliage, big blowsy white blooms, such as hydrangeas, peonies, roses and stocks added the wow factor!

Vases of scented white flowers were used to decorate the guest tables too, with ‘antique’ silver votives dotted amongst them. What could be prettier!
