Rustic Barn Wedding

I always love the opportunity to do something a little different, so creating the natural-looking designs for Katie and Joe’s winter wedding was a real joy and shows what you can do with a mix of fabulous foliage!

Bride carrying rustic style bouquet

The brief was to create natural/wild designs with plenty of texture and natural materials and nothing too formal or regularly placed (I like random bits and nothing too feminine, said Katie!). I hope you’ll agree that Katie’s unusual rustic style bouquet fits the bill!

Rustic bridesmaid bouquets

Katie’s bridesmaids carried bouquets filled with foliage and other natural goodies too, with touches of silvery-grey to pick up the pale grey of their dresses.

Rustic buttonholes

And not to leave out the men, they wore rustic buttonholes of thistle (eryngium), brunia berries and sprigs of scented rosemary.

The rustic style of the foliage and floral designs was perfect for the country setting of Bassmead Manor Barns. Two large displays were created to sit on top of milk churns and mark the entrance to the aisle and a similar display of mixed foliage and flowers adorned the registrar’s table for the ceremony…

Large display on milk churn

The couple wanted plenty of green and grey foliage, with touches of silver-grey to work with the light grey of the bridesmaids’ dresses and the men’s tweed suits and some fresh spring lime-green to lift the scheme. Flowers were limited to white and ivory spring flowers to create a look in keeping with the season…. not a rose or sprig of gypsophila in sight!

Unusual seating plan for wedding

And not forgetting all those gin bottles, but more about that over on the website gallery….

The amazing professional images were taken by Megan Wilson (meganwilson.net), so my thanks to Megan too.
