Flowers at Hellens Manor

Such a delight to attend last spring’s ‘The Foral Escape’ workshop. It’s never too late to learn new skills and styles and so I was excited to be joining other wedding florists in being tutored by the fabulous and talented Sabine Darrall.

Do read on to hear more about the designs we created together and see some of the fabulous photos by Naomi Kenton Photography, who joined us for the styled shoot at the end of our time at Hellens Manor. More can be seen in my photo gallery too….

Styled top table for wedding

It was great fun to work with a group of talented people to create both individual designs and larger pieces. Fabulous how everything came together to create this awesome table setting too! So much work had been done by Sabine to ensure we could all create designs we could be proud of and to be able to take what we learned back to our own businesses.

Hellens Manor Herefordshire

The workshop took place at historic Hellens Manor in Much Marcle, Herefordshire, set in scenic countryside and with fabulous grounds. It’s amazing how the setting you are in can inspire creativity! I’m lucky enough to work from home surrounded by beautiful gardens, so draw on nature all the time to feel inspired in my work…

Spring table arrangement

We made these individual low centrepieces using gorgeous spring flowers in a range of soft pastel shades and in a loose natural style. So pretty! The designs were made without using floral foam, so great from an environmental point of view too – this is something that I’m always happy to discuss with clients.

Just how stunning do these individual floral arrangements look placed down the centre of a long table? It just shows that designs don’t need to be complicated to look effective and this sort of arrangement would work perfectly for a long top table, with the advantage that you could give all the individual designs away afterwards!

Square hanging floral designs

By Naomi Kenton Photography

Hanging structures have become popular in recent years – I’ve had fun decorating planks, ladders and bicycle wheels to hang from marquee frames and beams. Just loved decorating these unusual bespoke cubes with plenty of trailing foliage to set off the beautiful flowers.

Table centrepieces, candlelight, hanging floral designs – just loved how this look was put together! And the colours were gorgeous too – pale pastel spring flowers with hints of blush, peach and apricot looked stunning against the dark blue table and accessories.

And then it was time to learn how to make a hand tied cascade bouquet…. Love how this technique can be used to create a loose and trailing bouquet filled with beautiful country flowers and foliage – perfect for brides who want a natural style bouquet.
